In Memory Of Derek Alexander. July 11th 2009
It was the week before - I received a call from Vernon with Rock & Roll M/C
" We are having a memorial run Saturday July 11th for our brother Derek that recently passed, could we borrow your H.O.G motorcycle trailer and do you think the Maui H.O.G Chapter could help us with Road Captains" for the run ?
Of course my answer was Yes ! and Yes !!
We met at Burger King parking lot in Kahului 10.00am sharp - Derek's Motorcycle's had already arrived on our trailer accompanied by numerous family and friends - About 70 motorcycles and riders participated in the run with representatives/riders from most of the M/C clubs on Maui.
After a brief Road Captains meeting and a short prayer for Derek, we were off to Flemming Beach Park; Not stopping there, but looping through and riding back to Lulu's in Lahaina - Where once again Ron did a fantastic job in hosting all of us weary travelers !
With lunch over we were headed for Ulupalukua one of Derek's favorite riding stops, after a short break at Ulupalukua, the group headed back down the mountain to Kihei's Kalama park where drinks and pupu's were provided.
Thank you to all of our Road Captains that came out that day and did a fantastic job in getting all of us safely along the extensive route ! Once Again !! Well Done Everyone !!
Our best wishes go out to all of Derek's family for now and the future.
